Chhatisgarh

This state has been newly created in 2000 in Central India, carved out of Madya Pradesh. Its capital is Raipur which is known for its university. It is in the Indo Gangetic plain where the main crop is rice. The people are a mixture of the Indo-Aryan and Dravidians and the main languages are Hindi and Chhatisgarhi.

The state is also known for its mineral resources such as coal, manganese and iron ore.
